Tamarind is one of the most awarded restaurants
and without doubt one of the best restaurants in Cairns.
At least it's the best we've tried during the six days we stayed in Cairns.
It's located on the ground floor of The Reef Casino which was a must try place for us as we
were staying in the hotel.
The restaurant offers contemporary food with Asian influences and
their chef sources seasonal produce locally, like their
signature dish of Baby Barramundi.
I ordered the dish as main course and I loved the presentation.
The fish was crispy outside and tender inside.
The chili paste sauce is just right for this dish, well balanced of flavour and very taste.
For $37, it was well worth the money.
My husband ordered the Singapore Style Squid with chili shrimp filling.
He loved it too. The coconut sauce was just right and not too rich or overwhelming.
Nice dish. Wish there were more on the plate.
My favourite dishes were the Tamarind entree taster plate.
Beautifully presented of a selection of four entrees on offer.
The Salad of King Prawn and Blue Swimmer Crab were fresh,
The Scallop with Lime & Ricotta Puree delicious,
The Duck Breast was tender
and the Rice Paper Rolls were full of flavour.
Very dish met our high expectation!
We were so full but still ordered the Tamarind Desert Plate.
I didn't want to regret later that I didn't try all their thoughtful dishes.
I believed I made the right choice.
The deserts were unique and as all their other dishes, look so beautiful as well.
The restaurant decorates in contemporary style with South Asian influence.
It was dark and romantic with a small outdoor area on the deck.
The only thing I wish they could improved is to hire more wait staffs.
As there were only two of them on the night we were there.
