Looking through the coverage from Air New Zealand ..Fashion Week, we smell teen spirit. Kiwi designers seemed to look back a decade for inspiration for their upcoming season. Designers like Nyne, Stolen Girlfriends Club, and Twentysevennames sent models down the runway in acid wash, ripped jeans and tights, grunge-y plaids, muscle tanks and mesh. As we've seen on other catwalks around the globe, androgyny and punk/rockabilly sensibilities loomed large. Margi Robertson over at Nom*D seemed to have the'90s on the mind as well with her dark and draping collection that reeked of disaffected youth. On the other end of the spectrum, the highly anticipated show by Alexandra Owen came with unabashed romance. Structured shirt dresses and fluttering ruffles in feather light fabrics floated down the runway for those of you who who wake up at night in a cold sweat remembering the outfits you wore whilst emulating the keen fashion sense of Brenda Walsh and Kelly Taylor. Gnarly!
