Victor & Rolf Dollhouse

Toeing the line between fashion and performance art Victor & Rolf show at the Barbican Art Gallery in London this month, where 55 complete looks (including hair and makeup) from the past 15 seasons will be presented on an army of custom-made life-size porcelain dolls, each of which will have a doll-size counterpart. Every garment is like a couture garment.

The gown is smothered in a profusion of bows. Made of snow-white double-faced satin, the dress and its 2.75-meter-long train are adorned with a trellis work and 248 bows made of crepe georgette. The diamond-shaped trelliswork hides all the figure seams, and therefore the dress seems to be made of one piece.
